Jackie Evans Houston Concert reviews
Speak up...
The actors' performances were the sole basis for the three-star rating I gave. I empathize with them as performers enduring the horrendous sound quality. My four seats in Row S of the Orchestra aisle were quite pricey. All three of my sisters flew in from Oakland to attend the show. The opening number was inaudible, and the lyrics were indiscernible afterward. It was a struggle when a number combined dialogue and lyrics. We were thoroughly displeased by the poor execution. I was ashamed of exposing my sisters, knowing the standards they're accustomed to as professionals. In all my 25 years with Equity, I have never witnessed ushers guiding latecomers to their seats in the middle of a performance!! What was that all about??!! This distraction severely diminished the cast's hard work. It's disheartening that this occurred towards the end of the show's run. I shudder to think of the situation during the early stages of the production.
